Scheffler will miss the season opener due to an injury sustained during Christmas dinner.
World number one Scottie Scheffler will miss the opening two weeks of the 2025 PGA Tour season.
The 28-year-old American has withdrawn from next week’s campaign opener at The Sentry.
After missing the Sony Open, which is also being played in Hawaii. Scheffler is anticipated to participate again at the American Express Championship, which will take place in California from January 16–19.
“On Christmas Day while making supper. Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a shattered glass. Scheffler’s manager, Blake Smith, said in a statement released on Friday.
Surgery was necessary to remove tiny glass particles that were still in the palm. It is estimated that he will return to full capacity in three to four weeks.
“The American Express is his next scheduled tournament.”
For the third straight season, Scheffler was recently named the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year.
Of his nine victories, seven occurred on the U.S. main circuit. Including his second consecutive victory at the Players Championship and The Masters.
During an extraordinary season that also saw Scheffler warm up for the second round of the US PGA Championship in a detention cell after being arrested on his way into Valhalla Golf Club, Scheffler also won an Olympic gold medal in Paris and his Tour Championship victory earned him his first FedEx Cup title.
Later, all charges were dropped.
