Despite acknowledging that the January transfer window “was not ideal” for Celtic. Manager Brendan Rodgers is not assigning blame before a club assessment.
On deadline day, the Scottish Premiership leaders got winger. Jota back from Rennes and signed Jeffrey Schlupp from Crystal Palace, while striker Kyogo Furuhashi went the other way.
“We wanted another attacker,” Rodgers stated, “so we are not hiding behind anything.”
“So I get that. But all I can do is make the most of what we now have, try to teach. Put in a lot of effort, and wrap out what has been a fantastic season for us thus far.”
After being without a goal since late November. Adam Idah has scored three goals in two games to fill the vacuum left by Kyogo’s departure.
Daizen Maeda can also play through the middle. Although he is suspended for next week’s first leg of the Champions League play-off match against Bayern Munich. Johnny Kenny, 21, has returned after a loan stint with Shamrock Rovers.
Rodgers went on to say, “I do not want to lay blame on anyone here,” “I believe that the way things ended for us as a group was not ideal. As a club, we must now leave and examine that, just as we do with each window.
“By thinking about what may have been, I will not get frustrated and ruin my enjoyment of working here.”
When Furuhashi, who scored 85 goals in 165 games, left without a successor, Rodgers was asked if it was a mistake.
He retorted, “Some people will say that, but you do not have the amount of knowledge that I have on the player and working with him, dating back to the summer.”
‘Well, you should really have someone in the door before you let him go,’ is something you can say with ease. However, there was a circumstance that made it untrue, and we had been dealing with that for some months.
“I believe we added some excellent players. Was there anything we could have done better? Indeed, we could.
But for now, we collaborate with the players here. That is the main objective. Looking back is something I truly do not want to do.”
“The ninth most important priority for the summer”
Adam Idah will now try to take center stage. They have bids from West Ham for Daniel Cummings and Johnny Kenny.
It will be intriguing to watch what Brendan Rodgers does in the future because we know Daizen Maeda can play at the highest level and has done so for Japan.
Getting a number nine in will be Celtic’s top priority come summertime, in my opinion, as they clearly did not have the ideal player to take Kyogo’s place. They did not act hastily and take someone in merely for the purpose of doing so for a number of reasons.
