“Ready for a new challenge and the next steps” in his career is what the 27-year-old. England international declared on Tuesday.
Rashford was benched for United’s derby victory over Manchester City at Etihad Stadium two days prior.
Rashford scored twice in a 4-0 victory over Everton on December 1st, his final Premier League start.
“I do not talk about the future, we talk about the present,” Amorim said, implying that the team wants the striker, who rose through United’s junior systems, to stay.
“With Marcus Rashford, we perform better. He is a huge talent, which is what this kind of club requires.”
“He is right,” Amorim responded when asked if Rashford was looking for a “new challenge.” We face the greatest challenge in football right now, and we are in a tough spot. All of my players should be prepared, I hope.
On Thursday, United will play Tottenham in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals.
Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, who was also left out of the team to play against City, were not confirmed to play against Spurs by Amorim.
“They are in the same condition as the other players, and we have one more training session,” Amorim stated.
“We have to choose if they train effectively.”
