ELBAHRAIN.NET, Indonesian National Team Drops – Team Drops to Second Position – The duel between the Indonesian national team and Vietnam in the preliminary round match of Group B of the 2024 AFF Cup which took place at the Viet Tri Stadium, Sunday, December 15, 2024, ended with a score of 1-0 for the advantage of the home team.

The long-awaited goal occurred in the 77th minute. Vietnamese striker Nguyen Quang Hai scored a goal through a hard kick from inside the penalty box. This goal was the deciding factor in the victory for Kim Sang-sik’s team.

Indonesian National Team Drops

With this victory, Vietnam rose to the top of Group B with six points from two matches, replacing Indonesia in second place with four points from three matches. The Philippines is in third place with two points from two matches. Laos is in fourth place with two points from three matches. Myanmar is in the bottom position with one point from two matches.

Previously, The Golden Warriors won 4-1 at home to Laos in the first match. Meanwhile, Indonesia started this Southeast Asian tournament by winning 1-0 over hosts Myanmar, then drawing against Laos 3-3 at home on Thursday.

After this match, Indonesia will host the Philippines in the last match of the group stage at the Manahan Solo Stadium, Saturday, December 21. Meanwhile, Vietnam still has two matches, namely facing the Philippines in an away match on Wednesday, December 18, and hosting Myanmar on Saturday, December 21.

Vietnamese player Van Vi Nguyen started this match by taking a shot from outside the box after receiving a pass from Quang Hai Nguyen in the third minute. However, his shot was blocked.

In the 12th minute, Vietnam had another chance to score a goal through a header from Tien Linh Nguyen who was standing in the penalty box, after receiving a pass from Tan Tai Ho. But the ball still went wide.

Next, the Vietnamese players had several chances. However, they were still unable to score a goal despite dominating possession of the ball by more than 70 percent.

Indonesian National Team Drops

On the one hand, the Garuda squad’s defense line was able to dampen the onslaught of Vietnam’s attacks. Kadek Arel and his colleagues in the back row were able to appear solid. After scoring a goal, Vietnam became more comfortable building attacks. Several opportunities were created again by Nguyen Quang Hai and his colleagues. However, no additional goals occurred. The score of 1-0 lasted until the referee blew the long whistle to signal the end of the match.
