I Was Enjoying Every

“I was enjoying every second; another half hour would have been fantastic.”

The Scottish champions were on track to force the Bundesliga leaders into extra time. In their home stadium after ninety minutes of regular time in the second leg of. Celtic’s Champions League play-off match against Bayern Munich.

Nicolas Kuhn’s goal in the second half gave Brendan Rodgers’ team a 1-0 lead that evening. But there was still room for more.

Celtic pressed and harassed Bayern all over the pitch in the first half, creating a number of opportunities.

Against a team they were overwhelming favorites to defeat, Bayern were shaken and unable to find the answers.

However, Kasper Schmeichel had swiped away Leon Goretzka’s header to send the German team through. And Alphonso Davies had scrambled home from close range in the last minute of four added on.

“Disappointment, frustration… Following such a devastating hit, Schmeichel remarked, “I thought it was a heroic performance, extremely brave.”

Most, if not all, of the performers in green.

But Schmeichel in particular, were characterized as heroic.

Before they didn’t, Celtic resisted everything Bayern put at them. And the Denmark custodian, who has played in many important games, made eight saves.

“The feeling right now is that football can be a brutal game at times,” he continued. “An additional thirty minutes would have been fantastic because I was enjoying every minute.”

Brendan Rodgers, the manager, was full of praise for his team’s performance as they faced one of the most prominent teams in European football.

The Northern Irishman remarked. We were amazing, played without any fear. They played disciplined defense. Applied pressure when needed, caused problems for them on that side, and were able to stay tight and compact when needed.”

“We never seemed likely to give up the goal that we did. The boys gave it their all, so I can only be incredibly proud of the performance.”

Apparently out of their depth at the top table, they were thrashed 7-1 by Borussia Dortmund on a miserable night.

Nevertheless, they got back together and found solutions.

A spectacular matchup with Bayern was set up by victories over RB Leipzig and Young Boys, as well as reasonable draws against Atalanta, Club Brugge, and Dinamo Zagreb.

In the Bundesliga, Bayern leads Dortmund by 10 spots and 26 points.

Celtic rightfully led Bayern Munich till the very end.

Even though it was heartbreaking, it was a clear indication of Celtic’s growth during the previous four months.

When you look at where we came from, Schmeichel added. I think it says a lot when you take a step back and analyze the fact that we are away at. Bayern and are disappointed in drawing.”

“Celtic suffered out there and they proved everyone wrong,” former Scotland forward James McFadden remarked on Sportsound, echoing those sentiments.

“People will think, ‘Celtic is a really good side,’ after watching that. Since they believe they could have won this tie, everyone concerned will be devastated right now.

“That demonstrates their progress.”

Rodgers believes Celtic has laid the groundwork to contend with the best teams in Europe the following season.

Following the crushing defeat in Dortmund, they were only defeated by Aston Villa in the league stage, and the Celtic manager is adamant that his team will improve as a result of their continental experiences.

“We played some beautiful football and learned some key things along the way,” he remarked.

“It enables us to construct. We need to end the season on a high note now that we have made the progress that inspired me to return.

“At this level, my unwavering objective is to establish it as a seasoned club where we can go and seriously harm formidable opponents like Bayern Munich.”
