On Saturday, January 11, Erick Thohir, the chair of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), expressed gratitude to Shin Tae-yong on social media.
“Coach Shin Tae Yong, I am grateful for all that you have done for the Indonesian National Team. Erick posted on his Instagram account, @erickthohir, that “it is time for coach Patrick Kluivert to start a new chapter in Indonesian football.”
Kluivert was welcomed by Erick Thohir in the same post.
“To begin a new chapter in Indonesian football, it is time to welcome coach Patrick Kluivert,” Erick stated.
Erick also welcomed the coaching staff of the Indonesian National Team, who arrived on Saturday, January 11, in another post.
“Hello, Denny Landzaat, Alex Pastoor, and Patrick Kluivert. This is the Indonesian National Team’s new coaching staff. To make Garuda Mendunia’s idea a reality, let us collaborate and do our best. Come on!
On Monday, January 6, PSSI confirmed that Shin Tae-yong had been fired as coach of the Indonesian national team. Dutch football great Patrick Kluivert has taken over as coach.
Since 2020, Shin Tae-yong has been the Indonesian national team’s coach.
The South Korean coach used his personal social media to thank everyone. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to PSSI, particularly to General Chairperson Erick Thohir.
“I want to start by expressing my gratitude to Mr. Erick Thohir, the General Chairperson of PSSI, who has been a tremendous help to our Indonesian team in this role. We would not have gotten to where we are now if it were not for the General Chairperson,” he wrote on Saturday.
