Ruben Amorim, coach of Manchester United, responds to the incidents involving Andre Onana and Bruno Fernandes
The main culprits behind Man United’s most recent Premier League loss to Wolves were Bruno Fernandes and Andre Onana.
Ruben Amorim, the head coach of Manchester United. Refrained from saying that Wolves playmaker Matheus Cunha’s goal was the result of a foul on Andre Onana.
Cunha’s inswinger looped over Onana, who claimed he was fouled while trying to punch the ball. And United gave up a goal straight off a corner for the second consecutive week.
For Cunha’s corner, Onana was positioned between Wolves defenders Santiago Bueno and Matt Doherty. The Video Assistant Referee upheld referee Tony Harrington’s on-pitch decision to award the goal despite little contact from both opponents.
Amorim brought up the goal from last week’s League Cup quarterfinal loss. In which Tottenham winger Son Heung-min defeated United’s backup goalkeeper Altay Bayindir under similar circumstances.
He said in response to a question concerning Cunha’s victory. It is really difficult to catch the ball when you contact someone while they are jumping. The smallest touch against Tottenham was in the arm, and tonight it was in the back. That is it, then.
Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a second booking in the 47th minute, and Amorim blanked him. After giving Cunha a warning for tripping him in the first half. Fernandes was given a second card for a late foul on Nelson Semedo.
Amorim went on, “I am always frustrated with a red card, but it can happen. It is not like he wants to stop a player who has a yellow card; he just wants to go to the ball. The other player makes contact with the ball before he does, which makes it difficult for him as well.
