The much-anticipated Epic Universe theme park’s opening date is announced by Universal Orlando.
Epic Universe, Universal Orlando Resort’s much awaited new theme park, will open on May 22, 2025, right before Memorial Day weekend, the resort said Thursday morning.
As part of a 750-acre development, the new park will be the largest of the resort’s three theme parks and more than double the size of Universal’s Orlando footprint. There are currently two theme parks and one water park on the land announced by Universal Orlando.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Celestial Park are the five “worlds” that will make up this new park, Epic Universe.
“We are excited to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year, and this is such a pivotal moment for our destination,” stated Karen Irwin, president and COO of Universal Orlando Resort.
“With the opening of this amazing new theme park, our guests will have an incredible week filled with excitement that will leave them with great vacation memories!”
Effects of the Epic Universe
International Theme Park Services’ founder and CEO, Dennis Speigel, provides consulting services to theme parks worldwide.
He has been monitoring Universal’s more than $6 billion investment and the project’s progress since its inception.
According to him, the park’s themes appeal to a younger audience of tourists who enjoy fairy tales but are also searching for childhood pals and characters.
In an email to CNN, Speigel stated, “I expect this new Epic Universe theme park will easily crack 6 million plus guests over its first 12 months of operation.” “Since the 2010 release of Harry Potter, Universal Studios theme parks have been booming.”
According to Speigel, this park will boost the Orlando theme park industry, which is dominated by Universal and Disney.
Since 1998, Disney has not debuted a new theme park in Central Florida. Like a lot of theme park enthusiasts, Speigel is curious about how Disney will react to the actions of its rivals and whether it will open a new theme park in the upcoming years.
The sale of Epic Universe tickets will happen in stages.
Starting on October 22, only vacation packages and three-day (or longer).
Tickets to Universal Orlando Resort that include a day at Epic Universe will be offered for sale.
Depending on the dates, three-day tickets would cost anything from $374.88 to $554.87 (after tax) per person.
On October 24, current yearly pass holders of Universal Orlando will get first dibs on single-day admission to Epic Universe before the general public.
In the months preceding the park’s launch, more ticket alternatives will be offered, such as general admission single-day tickets.

There are also two additional Harry Potter-themed zones at Universal’s other theme parks.
Super Nintendo World will resemble the recently established Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles. The attractions “Mine-Cart Madness with Donkey Kong” and “Bowser’s Challenge” will be available to visitors.
A Viking village, a family roller coaster called “Hiccup’s Wing Gliders,” a water ride.
And a live performance are all part of the How to Train Your Dragon theme world.
