A soccer player for the Austrian national team sustains a fractured skull after “attack.”

According to a statement from his club Rapid Vienna. Austrian international soccer star Guido Burgstaller was hospitalized with a cracked skull following an attack in Vienna.

Vienna police have been contacted by CNN for comment.

Burgstaller had a brief stint with Cardiff City in the English Championship and previously played for Schalke in the Bundesliga, Germany’s top league.

Burgstaller last played for Austria in October 2023 and has two goals to his name.
